Our Story
Our friend Johnny invited us down to his place in Scottsdale for the 1st annual Perrin Invitational golf trip/tournament in Vegas & Phoenix. Golf during the day. Casino at night. The trip and the golf were amazing.
Like many golfers, during the trip we played side games to add excitement & make the round more engaging & interesting. As many golfers will relate; using a pencil to track wagers and wins often led to confusion, inaccurate totals and unsuccessful conversations about payment or no payment at all.
After a round of golf, we went to the casinos later that night. While using poker chips at the casino to play various games…It occurred to me that if we tried using poker chips on the golf course instead of a pencil that could solve all our side bet issues. Similar to the casino, poker chips would make tracking bets effortless, accurate, exciting, and buying in prior to playing with a designated banker would ensure everyone gets paid at the end just.
The Plan… Lets try poker chips instead of a pencil to track our side bets on the golf course and see how it goes.
The next day, before teeing off, similar to the casino we each gave our money to a designated banker for 20 poker chips to use as currency on the course for our side bets. This allowed us to settle our bets in real time and made collecting & winning them a lot more exciting & accurate than 1 player writing results down with a pencil. We used beer cups to hold the chips in the cart. Instantly, the experience changed. Every win was celebrated with real-time exchanges of poker chips. Poker chips added excitement, organization, and accuracy to our side games. Everyone agreed that the use of poker chips motivated them to focus more and play better. At the end, similar to any casino…we simply counted our poker chips and the (designated) banker paid us our winnings without any hassle or discrepancies.
Recognizing all the benefits poker chips provide players at a casino we knew golfers would appreciate a solution to side game discrepancies that combined the benefits of poker chips on the golf course. That’s when the idea for Skins Caddy was born
